In 2020, 627,000 individuals died of malaria and about 93% of the malaria-related deaths occurred in sub-Saharan Africa. But, early diagnosis and treatment of malaria reduces the severity of the disease and prevents deaths. It also contributes to reducing malaria transmission. The Spark-Hope partnership has worked to combat these statistics at Hope Community School in Zambia through the use of cutting edge instant malaria tests that provide an accurate diagnosis, allowing for effective treatment. These tests and the resulting treatment are given twice a year to ensure that malaria does not prevent any students from achieving their dreams.
