West Englewood has been identified as the most digitally disconnected community in Chicago and as a result, families are more likely to face barriers to employment and education. Spark Ventures is supporting increased access to the internet, computer literacy programming and equipment through a computer lab for youth, adults, and budding entrepreneurs.
The lab has served as a space for academic, personal, and professional development. Spark continues to support the lab by investing in new equipment and programming, such as skill-building computer classes, Google suites workshops, resume building, email etiquette, graphic design and more. Students use the lab for afterschool enrichment, tutoring, and homework. Teens and adults use it for educational programming, job training and for accessing the resources they need to support themselves and their families.
