Itinerary
On this Spark Ventures Impact Travel Experience, you will take part in meaningful engagement with community leaders and also engage with youth and adults who participate in Las Tias programming while experiencing the sights, sounds, and flavors of Nicaragua. Our expertly curated adventure will introduce you to unique cultural highlights, historical insights & natural wonders while you enjoy accommodations in boutique hotels with exceptional meals.
The safety of our travelers is Spark’s highest priority. We would like to assure you that our experienced team is monitoring the political & social climate in Nicaragua carefully and we refer to the Department of State Travel Advisories. We are also in close communication with our contacts in the country (local partner and travel providers). Should the circumstances in Nicaragua impact our ability to travel, we will be in touch with anyone who has secured a spot on our upcoming impact trip.
Here’s a more detailed picture of what you can expect each day of the journey:
DAY 1
ARRIVE / SETTLE / CONNECT
The Spark Team will greet you at Managua International Airport (MGA). From there, travel through scenic countryside to León, where you will check-in to your boutique accommodations. Enjoy cocktails at sunset on the Pacific while getting to know your traveling companions. Then get to know the leaders of Las Tias, Spark’s local partner organization, over a delicious beach-front dinner.
DAY 2
LEARN / GIVE / EXPLORE
Begin your adventure in earnest this morning with a guided walking tour through the market and community centers of our partner, Las Tías. Enjoy a lively welcome program with cultural dancing and performances by the students. Engage in English language games or other activities with the students. Serve and eat lunch at the center with your new friends. In the afternoon hike an active volcano with the option to volcano board to the bottom – or enjoy a free afternoon exploring the culturally rich city of Leon. Close out the day with dinner at top-rated restaurant.
DAY 3
IMPACT / DEVELOP / CHANGE
The morning activities include an additional youth project at one of the community centers and a visit to meet the family of one of the students. Debrief over lunch, enjoy a tour of the largest Cathedral in Central America, and then prepare for one of the best nights of the trip. The Las Tías leadership team will host our group for a traditional Nicaraguan feast, complete with music and dancing.
DAY 4
TRAVEL / ENJOY / TOAST
After breakfast, check out of your León hotel and transfer via private bus to lunch at a coffee farm and a light hike around the Mombacho crater. We’ll arrive in time for a few hours to explore Granada, a picturesque city filled with historic landmarks. Toast to your new friendships with a final group dinner.
DAY 5
DEPART / REFLECT
Check out of your Granada hotel and Spark staff will facilitate your private transportation to the Managua International Airport (MGA) in time to catch your flight home.
